I’ve seen a bit of wierd news around today and thought I would post one or two that tickled my weird news fancy.
First from Blogma
The Church of Scientology has lived up to its litigious reputation once again, this time threatening court action against a New Zealand-based Web site that satirizes Tom Cruise and his affiliation to the organization.
The site, ScienTOMogy.info, states in its introduction that it is in no way affiliated with the church and links those who may have gotten there inadvertently to the church’s official home page. ScienTOMogy also labels its spoof videos and other material as “satirical.” Still, church officials are claiming copyright infringement over the domain name.
Next on the list of weird of the moment was In Katrina’s wake, a tattoo boom in New Orleans.
Tattoo artists report a surge in demand for designs that celebrate New Orleans: fleur-de-lis patterns, “NOLA,” after the city’s widely known abbreviation, and even a symbol modeled after the weather-map depiction of hurricanes.
Thats enough weird for now.
