I’m not a fan of banks, never have been and never will be. Or at least the face to face banking anyway. I have various online high interest accounts which serve me well and the really nice thing is there is no face to face or phone contact. I just do it through the net.
I only have my problems with face to face banking it seems, not unremarkable from what i hear but when they happen twice in a month (i banked face to face twice this month!) its a pretty piss poor performance all round.
I received a US$ cheque and went to deposit it into my account. Unlike the date format here where we use DD/MM/YY in the USA they use MM/DD/YY and my bank refused to accept it as it was over 6 months old saying it was dated 10th february rather than 2nd October. Despite politely pointing out that it was a US$ cheque and their date format is different they never the less refused to accept it. In the end the teller went and got someone who confirmed I was right and that she was stupid and got my money deposited but it was still 10 minutes of my life i am not getting back.
The second time was today. I have an adversion to coins which includes disliking them in my pockets with the end result that i end up with collections of coins that i keep in a little red container about 8 inches high. Once in a while like today i take the container in to the bankand they put the coins through the machine depositing the money into my account. The last couple of times they have asked me “is my money clean?” I’m not sure what it is that causes them to call into question the hygiene of my cash or for that matter myself since while not dressed formally, I am reasonably presentable. So today rather than getting angry and asking for the manager or fuming internally I just replied “Oh was i meant to get it laundered? I thought that was your job” louder than a normal conversational voice. There was one very annoyed bank teller that stumped off to put my money through the machine. Maybe next time they will think twice about the hygiene of my cash.
I could go on about banks but will just say, I hate those barstards.
