It must be boxing day here in Australia, two of our most loved sporting events have kicked off for another day, the boxing day test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. A bit like Austin Powers getting his mojo back, i got my sleep mojo back and got my first uninterupted night of sleep in ages and even a sleep in. Work shall not defeat me and my love of sleep!
I watched the news tonight, at this point the oliday road toll stands at 11 deaths and when they read it on the news it always seems more like they are quoting a sporting score the same way they read the sporting score. Reminds me of the lyrics of a song “She can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eyes.” Nothing sells like bad news, just like nothing slows down the traffic like a good car wreck to look at.

I don’t get the whole “road toll” thing. Why do we have to know?? The way they flash up a graph showing how all the states compare is just gruesome! it’s like a road kill competition. Enough already.

And they make it sound like just a statistic when they say “the toll is now…”. We’re talking about people’s lives!
