For a while i have been wanting to get back into photography on a more serious basis although i don’t have a huge amount of money to spend on a camera and so today I went shopping for a new camera today, one thats better than the kodak digital camera i am using now that is serviceable for casual photographs but not for the kind of photos I want to take. I’d prefer to get a simple SLR camera, not too fancy that i can use some of the features like shutter speed and aperture to take the kind of photos I want.
So yesterday and today I’ve gone to just about every camera store here save two (which i simply forgot existed & one that is closed for christmas). Its a shock to discover that camera fashion has it seems changed and everything is either point and shoot or digital point and shoot unless of course you want to spend huge amounts of money on the very best (and expensive) brand name cameras available that for the price don’t do anything more than the cheap SLR camera i used when i was in school, just making thumbs redundant for advancing the film to the next shot. To overide the automatic settings it seems the minimum of a Phd in operating the digital console is needed just to get to use the camera the way you want to. The salesperson was explaining one camera and i kept thinking of the movie WarGames where a teen hacks into a defence department computer wanting to play a game and nearly triggers world war III, just this was in a camera instead and would have taken nice photos of mushroom clouds.

It’s amazing what some of the point and shoot are capable of. Although i own a digital SLR (and love it), I still use my Sony Cybershot, and sometimes you can’t tell the difference!
Keep searching…

Chicky. Yeah even a cheap digital can produce good shots I agree but sometimes you just want a little … more. But i will keep looking for sure!
