Last night after work i went down to Pams for dinner. Roast Beef with a nice bottle of red is always welcome. Dean and Marie were also there, freshly back from their honeymoon with stories to tell of their honeymoon in Hong Kong and China, from climbing a zillion steps up to seeing a giant buda to getting diarrhoea and going on a boat ride. They bought us presents and i got given a buzz lightyear cup with strict instructions to use it only for the consumption of beer.
After dinner and the stories were over, it was time for a torture both savage and cruel, the chance to watch the wedding video. It was painful to watch, a nasty thing to do to us. And of course to be good friends you can neither run screaming part way through or turn it off, you have to sit and watch the whole thing.
The sad thing is that since this was the first time either of us had seen them since they got back they weren’t aware that Pam & I were no longer a couple and while it might have been our imagination, they seemed to be giving us the happy smile that old couples give to new couples, the handing on of the new relationship baton or some such notion. In the end we didn’t have the heart to tell them unless they actually asked. And they didn’t … So they are believing one thing, we are another.
