I must say its a little embarrassing looking at the Commonwealth Games medal table.
Its almost a case of Australia vs the rest of the Commonwealth although being an Aussie i’m always happy to see Australia crush opposition and while the critics point out there isn’t the sporting giants that you find in the Olympics, its never the less night to see Australia doing well.

Its been very lopsided in Australia’s favour for about the last 3,4,5 Commonwealth Games. I remember when England and Canada gave us a good run for our money. We have stepped up and they haven’t.
I reckon it would be interesting to find out the government funding for sport per medal for each country. Not sure what it would reveal but I think that we overemphasise sport at the expense of more essential things governments could do with the money. (except they’d probably just piss it down the drain on something less worthwhile than sport.)
