I woke up this morning to the news that after 321 hours trapped underground Beaconsfield Miners Todd Russell and Brant Webb were freed. Its an incredible story of survival against the odds, especially since their survival from the rockfall was only discovered by someone disobeying safety directives to approach the still dangerous area of the rockfall. It might sound corney but hey it makes you feel good to be alive. It was of course tempered by the fact that today was also the funeral of Larry Knight the third miner that was killed in the rockfall.
It should of course be pointed out that it was a great team effort and that the heroes are as much the rescuers as the guys who were trapped reamined strong. My hat is off to all involved.

Hate to say but i had tears in my eyes. What an awesome tale of survival. No doubt these two men will become millionaires out of this.
We can’t forget Larry Knight though, or the pain his family must be feeling.

Steph – yeah i’ll admit to having some myself. As for becoming millionaires, i wish them good luck as if something good comes out of something so bad, then its not so bad.
I feel for Larry Knight’s family, such celebration at such a hard time for them all.
