Apparently the worlds bloggers are once again rallying behind a new cause, that of the former planet pluto and demanding that it be reinstated as a planet after the International Astronomers Union declared overnight that it had ceased to be called a planet and is instead a “dwarf planet” and not a planet on its own.

The first thing that I checked when i heard was the date, no its not 1 April and so then i considered the whole thing carefully. There is the old saying “what happens on conference junkets stays on conference junkets” but while indiscretions may be forgotten, throwing an entire planet out of the solar system is disturbing and wrong. I can only imagine that there are bleary eyed Astronomers rubbing their eyes and looking around, some are wondering who they are waking up with, others trying to establish who threw up on the pot planet and then the news that while on the turps they did the foulest of misdeeds to an entire planet by banishing it from the solar system.
