I’ll be the first to admit that i am not a master strategist when it comes to getting what i want and more likely its that my interests coincide with those of others that i come out of the meeting with what i want. Over the last 14 weeks my team of 12 have been trialling a new way of doing our business different from the ways of the past and its gone from an inital disaster to producing efficiencies and even sometimes happy people going about their work. Yesterday we met and called it a success and decided in principal that there would be a gradual roll out to the rest of the branch over christmas to be discussed in an implementation meeting today.
So today I was feeling fairly relaxed going to a meeting to discuss the implementation. Things would move slowly and i would get the chance to ramp things up slowly to the 60% of the branch doing things differently Three hours later i came out and i had seven new staff and caused a staffing cascade in whats left outside of my team as people move around to cover what is left when i have made off with staff. And i never saw it coming and wasn’t sure i wanted to do it on this scale.
Meetings. They are a mystery to me and how i get something happen like this a double mystery.
