So soon after my earlier post regarding Saddam Hussein being sentanced to death and the fact that i lean towards being against the death penalty comes the news that Saddam Hussein was today executed at dawn. I feel no outrage that he has been executed as many might, just relief that he is gone and he can never again harm someone. I remember the tv footage after the gas attacks on Kurds and from the Iran-Iraq war. If that can be avoided then its a good start.
I found myself wondering after seeing earlier reports that he was likely to be executed today whether he would have ever been the force that he had become after the support from the USA earlier in his reign, especially at the time of the Iran Iraq war? How much is the previous administrations of the USA responsible? One for the historians i guess, i certainly don’t know
