Its Australia day here today commemerating the landing of the First Fleet at Sydney cove on the 26th January 1788. For me its just a chance to sit back with a cold one and toast in my opinion the greatest country on Earth.
Sure it could be argued that the country is not without problems, racial tensions continue to be a problem although how much of a problem they are usually and how much of the a problem the media reports them to be are I expect quite different. Its because of those tensions that the biggest issue in Australia this week was the reporting that organisers of the Big Day Out concert in Australia had banned the Australian flag from being brought as it was “gang colours”, a point quickly denied by organisers as just about everyone from the Prime Minister down in the public eye had something to say and the RSLs were vocal in their condemnation.
And finally as if i could forget, the Boony has been vocal singing a few bars of Advance Australia Fair and other comments.
