Have you heard of podcasts? Of course you have. They are radio-style shows available over the internet that you can download to your computer and ipod that you can listen to when you want to, not when some radio station wants you to listen to something. I’m a big fan and have various podcasts that i listen to including ones about favourite tv shows, the internet, life and a variety of others. I spend a lot of my time travelling, why not listen to somethign that is going to entertain me.

I am not sure if you have noticed or not but in the last year i have noticed that podcasts have really taken off and its not unusual to find me listening to one on my ipod. Similarly video podcasting has really taken off and if i miss the news some days i catch the video podcast of the major news stories of the day.

The cool thing about podcasts is that they were never originally about the main stream media. It was really not a lot different from blogging, people like you and me sitting in front of their home computer speaking into a microphone, including the content that they wanted into their podcast. I heard of bands trying to get a start podcasting their music and the average person speaking to their audience.

I have just been looking at MyPodcast.com, a Free Podcast resource site. It can provide not only hosting for your podcast but also everything else you need including software to record your podcast, a place to publish the podcast to the internet where your audience can find and download it and as you build an audience, a chance to start earning money from advertising. And the best thing, its FREE to create your podcast.
