Yesterday i blogged about the ever useful Akismet approaching having stopped its one billionth blog comment spam,. I just had a look at the site and its now stopped 1,000,010,503 spams. Way to go!
For those that don’t know what Akismet is, its a popular blogging plugin for many blogging platforms that weeds out comment spam from legitimate comments on blog posts. To do so it matches some key characteristics with an online database and characteristics of the comment itself. I have found it to be super accurate with the worst thing being a few legitimate comments have ended up having to be manually moderated and 26,520 spam comments stopped on this blog alone. Pretty good effort i am sure you would agree!
