There is something that i want to share with you about the holidays and weekends when it comes to the freaks to come out to play, they are their favourite times to be on the internet. And due to an unfortunate mistake, it means money in my pocket (which me and my pocket like!)
Let me explain. Before this blog i used to publish regularly to my then personal blog drakk.net which included all the weird and unusual search keyphrases that people used to enter into search engines to arrive on my blog. Over time i found that more and more people were finding my blog because of those phrases instead of my blog which was disconcerting, alarming and disappointing because those phrases were not at all what my blog was about. And so i took the decision to cease that blog and start fresh with this one, named by chance by the song i liked at the time.
The interesting thing that i have noticed is that after 18 months is that the hits have slowed a little but not as much as you might expect, and that they are definitely driven by events like holidays and with the weekends. And while adsense forbids the publishing of exact click throughs on their ads, a staggering percentage of them then click on ads to the point that almost 18 months dead the blog is still paying for itself and my web hosting. But as i said, only on weekends and public holidays. I guess the freaks like the rest of us have to work for the weekend.
So the moral of the story. Be careful what you say or you might not get what you want. It could just be a cash cow.
