After reading this article on The Register I had to look at this for myself and its true. Sheryl Crow has become active it seems in the environmental movement and has been on a Stop Global Warming College Tour promoting, well your smart, I guess you can tell what she has been promoting.

Now Sheryl bless her environmentally sound cotton socks has realised the idea that part of the solution for global warming is to save trees and one of the core parts of this strategy is targeting your toilet. Yes yours. She wants everyone to use less toilet paper and that people should be restricting themselves to just use one sheet per sitting of toilet paper except of course for “those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required. There are I believe certain issues associated with this which i will obviously avoid as i don’t want the post to get bum steered. I notice that in a later post she has claimed the toilet paper thing was just a joke but i expect its more likely to stop people avoiding her and calling her names like stinky bum ….

By that is not my favorite part of her suggestions. She is also advocating that clothing designs start including detachable sleeves, known as dining sleeves, that people can use to wipe their mouths on after dining. To cater for the obvious demand that this is likely to cause, she has designed the necessary clothing line. Now I am indeed also confused about this as back in the day before paper napkins were everywhere, we just used to use washable napkins. Hell if I look in my mothers cupboard there are probably still them. So having a dining sleeve isn’t going to save any energy or resources since both that and mums cotton napkins isn’t going to save any energy or resources since both still have to be washed and I expect more since I would be ordering the new clothing line via her website and all those carbon emissions to get the clothes to me as opposed to me going and digging in the back of mums cupboard.

Now reading this post you might get me wrong. I am not against rockstars taking on their favourite environmental cause. Bono and Bob Geldolf have done wonderful things for their causes, John Farnham did a wonderful thing by retiring but making the world a stinky place thanks to Sheryl is never going to work. They are never going to have world wide concerts in support of that cause but if they do, hope you don’t need a visit to the toilets. Now i also looked in her online shop and amoungst eveything else i can buy her cds. You know those disks made of plastic and that come in a plastic case with a glossy printed paper liner notes with all of the ingredients damaging the environment and or aiding global warming. There were no alternatives provided so i guess to buy her albums supporting her and her causes i have to damage the environment to save the environment. I also assume that talking environment all of her concerts are now going to be day light concerts but you will need to look closely because there will be no lighting and you won’t be able to hear because there will be no sound system, both because of the carbon footprint generating the electricity to power the lighting and sound systems.

All power to Sheryl, just make sure she is down wind.
