I recently bought the computer game World In Conflict, a real time stratey game that examines the idea of what if the cold war never ended and instead on the long slide into economic collapse, the Soviet Union instead tried to invade Europe and also tried to invade the West Coast of the USA. An interesting idea.
So i have had ten days to get to play it around other things and i finished the single player campain today and can sum it up in one word, impressive. Unlike some games that claim to have a storyline and its really just a collection of stuff lumped together, World In Conflict actually does. It links together the different locations in the game through a storyline with events narrated by Alec Baldwin that also help to flesh out the characters. Gameplay was good although once in a while i would find units doing dumb things or allied AI deciding to drive through the middle of an artillery barrage. But overall it was good. Graphis were good and you could destroy just about anything on the map and i am going to go back to see if i can destroy seattle’s space needle at some point, not because it has to be destroyed but just because.
So overall, a good solid game worthy of purchase. I got the collectors edition but have not at yet had the time to watch either of the enclosed dvds. I did marvil at my bit of the Berlin Wall however!
