I watched the pilot episode and the second episode of Cane tonight while at a friends. I must admit with the publicity and advertising i had high expectations which is a shame as when it finished, i felt a bit let down.
The show is set in Florida in a second generation Cuban American family who own and rum a successful rum and sugar business in Florida. The leader of the family is diagnosed with only 6 to 12 months to live and wants to make sure the business is in good hands. As such he divides the company between his three blood children and his adopted son Alex Vega (Jimmy Smits) which creates bad blood between the children.Throw in some rivalry from another family, a daughter who likes to party like Paris Hilton, a pregnant wife and more.
So its got the basis of what could be a good program but i got about 30 minutes in and i realised that i really didn’t care what happened next, it was a case of “meh” who cares. I will give it another look but it will need to improve for me to keep watching long term
