Today turned on the tv a little while after the cricket started and was disgusted to see Australia all out and India in to bat. So instead of staying home i decided to head out and do other things. So i did a bit of shopping and went to a drive to Port Arthur.
For those that are not aware Port Arthur is a former convict settlement with a shady past. Its also a big drawcard as visitors get to go around the old settlement, much of the buildings now ruins. Most famous of all is the old Penitentiary (below) which housed many of the convicts.

The biggest mystery of all though is the pricing structure of the area. The cheapest pass to get in is $25 for the day and depending what you want to do it can cost a lot more than that. But for an extra $6 you can get your pass upgraded to a 2 year pass. That pricing is just odd.
Anyway i wandered the site for half the day and took a lot of photos but its just as well i do have the 2 year pass because there is so much more to see that i didn’t get the chance to see (and shoot) so once the holiday rush is over i think i will be making a lot more use of the pass.
Oh and for the record, i am happier with the cricket. The Indian team was bowled out while i was away …
