There is nothing worse than an abuse of trust. No scratch that, nothing worse than an abuse of trust and using it to your own gain.

There is a rumour going around that there has been a massive abuse of trust has occurred on a grand scale to the people of Hobart. Following the Myer Hobart Fire there was a huge groundswell of support for the store and with that they surfed a huge wave of popularity and free advertising of the kind that you can’t buy. A giant fire sale was promised and then sadly canceled as everything was too badly damaged. Everything instead was carted to the dump, run over with a bull dozer and buried. The store management was all very sad and apologetic that they couldn’t offer a sale. It only seemed to help their popularity.
In record time the Murray Street part of the store was reopened to the public with grand fan fair and received more of that advertising money can never buy. And just before Christmas i am sure that didn’t hurt what was heading into their cash registers.
So it came around in a comment on my photo blog two days ago that some of the fire damaged stock has turned up in a fire sale in Auckland. Some of it is apparently slightly smoke damaged but came with the cartons labeled for Myer Hobart and price tags on the items. Strangely undamaged by bull dozer or dirty from being buried.
The idea of even the possibility of having been taken as a fool annoys me and gets me fired up. I can blog about it where i rant and rave about it but no matter what I say its not going to get the headlines. But i want the headlines so last night i dropped the newspaper a tip, mid morning i had a reply and further query from a journalist and by 2.30pm this afternoon it had been confirmed. Strangely Myer wasn’t wanting to comment much about it.
Lets hope the sky falls on them.
