I have been frustrated by the regular media attention about David Hicks and trying to make the public feel sorry for him. The latest in the long line of stories is millionaire businessman Dick Smith trying to get David Hicks a job, another in a long line of attempts it seems to get me to feel sorry for him.

Now don’t get me wrong, i don’t agree with the way he was treated when captured with the Taliban and detained in Guantanamo Bay by the US as the way we treat our enemies says a lot about our society.

But other than that, as far as it goes i refuse to feel sorry for him. He joined the Taliban and there is no way even an idiot can not know of its links to al Qaeda. Its goal is terrorism and it doesn’t care how it gets it done whether its crashing planes into buildings or blowing up travelers on their bus to work. Given the chance they would kill you, me and everybody we know and care about for their cause.

David Hicks joined and supported the organisation, his not getting my pity and i really don’t care if he has a happy life with a job. Or goes to hell.
